The judith by Gustav Klimt

The Judith i was one of typical artwork by Gustav Klimt. In the bible story, Judith was a hero who took advantage her beauty to lure the enemy leader, therefore killed the enemy and saved the whole city people. In Klimt's painting, she was portrayed as a morden woman. With modern hairstyle and clothing, Judith exposed her body, seemed to lure anyone looked at her. The head of the enemy were carried in her hands under the right corner of the paintings, occupying only small position. Correspondingly, the Judith's head is prominent in the artwork. Judith rasided her head, look like she was slightly self-confidence, relaxation, great determination and sexy. Covered with large area of gold pattern, Judith' face was more charming and full of temptation. The rich gold decoration was a symbol of power and strength , which was also used in the Judith's Necklace and the clothes. This artwork like a golden Byzantine-style mosaics, which covered by gold to indicate some kind of eternity. But the thing that lasts no longer ancient kingship and the divine right, but the desire and power that modern people pursuit of. Expressing this theme frankly and brilliantly was why Klimt so successful and popular in the art.
